{"id":1299,"date":"2021-12-03T08:30:23","date_gmt":"2021-12-03T08:30:23","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/salarydistribution.com\/machine-learning\/2021\/12\/03\/omniverse-creator-takes-viewers-down-an-artistic-time-tunnel-in-omniracer-video\/"},"modified":"2021-12-03T08:30:23","modified_gmt":"2021-12-03T08:30:23","slug":"omniverse-creator-takes-viewers-down-an-artistic-time-tunnel-in-omniracer-video","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/salarydistribution.com\/machine-learning\/2021\/12\/03\/omniverse-creator-takes-viewers-down-an-artistic-time-tunnel-in-omniracer-video\/","title":{"rendered":"Omniverse Creator Takes Viewers Down an Artistic Time Tunnel in OmniRacer Video"},"content":{"rendered":"<div data-url=\"https:\/\/blogs.nvidia.com\/blog\/2021\/12\/02\/piotr-skiejka-omniverse-creator\/\" data-title=\"Omniverse Creator Takes Viewers Down an Artistic Time Tunnel in OmniRacer Video\" data-hashtags=\"\">\n<p>Movies like <i>The Matrix<\/i> and <i>The Lord of the Rings<\/i> inspired a lifelong journey in computer graphics for Piotr Skiejka, a senior visual effects artist at Ubisoft.<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/blogs.nvidia.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2021\/12\/piotr-skiejka-headshot-color-scaled.jpg\"><\/p>\n<p><img decoding=\"async\" loading=\"lazy\" src=\"https:\/\/blogs.nvidia.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2021\/12\/piotr-skiejka-headshot-color-400x400.jpg\" alt=\"A headshot of Piotr Skiejka\" width=\"300\" height=\"300\"><\/p>\n<p><\/a>Born in Poland and based in Singapore, Skiejka turned his childhood passion of playing with motion design \u2014 as well as compositing, lighting and rendering effects \u2014 into a career.<\/p>\n<p>He was recently named a winner of the <a href=\"https:\/\/www.nvidia.com\/en-us\/omniverse\/gallery-submissions\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">#CreateYourRetroverse contest<\/a>, in which <a href=\"https:\/\/www.nvidia.com\/en-us\/omniverse\/creators\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">creators<\/a> using <a href=\"https:\/\/www.nvidia.com\/en-us\/omniverse\/?ncid=so-othe-871130-vt20#cid=ov04_so-othe_en-us\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">NVIDIA Omniverse<\/a> shared scenes that flashback to when and where their love for graphics began.<\/p>\n<p>Skiejka uses the Omniverse real-time collaboration and simulation platform for his 3D workflows when designing animation, film and video game scenes.<\/p>\n<p>Over the past 13 years, he\u2019s worked on the visual effects for a <a href=\"https:\/\/www.imdb.com\/name\/nm4637347\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\">filmography of nearly two dozen listings<\/a>, including Marvel\u2019s <i>Avengers<\/i> and an episode of <i>Game of Thrones<\/i>, as well as several commercials and video games.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cI enjoy learning new workflows and expanding my creative knowledge every day, especially in such an evolving field,\u201d he said.<\/p>\n<h2><b>A Lord of the Rende(rings)<\/b><\/h2>\n<p>Skiejka\u2019s creative process begins with collecting references and creating a board full of pictures. Then, he blocks scenes in Omniverse, using simple shapes and meshes to fill the space before taking a first pass at lighting.<\/p>\n<p>After experimenting with a scene\u2019s different layers, Skiejka replaces his blocked prototypes with high-resolution assets \u2014 perfecting the lighting and tweaking material textures as final touches.<\/p>\n<p>Watch a stunning example of his creative process in this video, which was recognized in the NVIDIA Omniverse #CreateYourRetroverse <a href=\"https:\/\/www.youtube.com\/watch?v=WaofUFohN6I\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">contest<\/a>:<\/p>\n<\/p>\n<p>According to Skiejka, the main challenges he previously faced were long rendering times and slow software feedback when lighting and shading.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cNow, with <a href=\"https:\/\/www.nvidia.com\/en-us\/design-visualization\/technologies\/rtx\/?ncid=so-othe-960171-vt20#cid=ov04_so-othe_en-us\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">NVIDIA RTX technology<\/a>, render time is greatly decreased, and visual feedback occurs in real time,\u201d he said. \u201cThe <a href=\"https:\/\/docs.omniverse.nvidia.com\/prod_kit\/prod_kit.html\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Omniverse Kit<\/a> framework and the <a href=\"https:\/\/docs.omniverse.nvidia.com\/prod_nucleus\/prod_nucleus\/overview.html\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Omniverse Nucleus<\/a> server are superb game-changers and perfect additions to my workflow.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>Skiejka\u2019s favorite feature of the platform, however, is the <a href=\"https:\/\/www.nvidia.com\/en-us\/omniverse\/apps\/create\/?ncid=so-othe-313497-vt20#cid=ov04_so-othe_en-us\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Omniverse Create<\/a> scene composition application.
