class=\"wp-caption-text\">Benny Dee<\/figcaption><\/figure>\n<p>Benjamin Sokomba Dazhi, aka Benny Dee, has learned the ins and outs of the entertainment industry from many angles \u2014 first as a rapper, then as a music video director and now as a full-time animator.<\/p>\n<p>After eight years of self-teaching, Dazhi has mastered the art of animation \u2014 landing roles as head animator for the film <a href=\"https:\/\/www.youtube.com\/watch?v=aKN7VmHuSWM\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\"><i>The Legend of Oronpoto<\/i><\/a>, and as creator and director of the <a href=\"https:\/\/www.cartoonnetworkhq.com\/show\/cndancechallenge\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\">Cartoon Network Africa Dance Challenge<\/a>, a series of dance-along animations that teaches children African-inspired choreography.<\/p>\n<\/p>\n<p>Based in north-central Nigeria, Dazhi is building a team for his indie animation studio, <a href=\"https:\/\/www.youtube.com\/channel\/UCJ8aa9y8s52q90DvV3yI1OA\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\">JUST ART<\/a>, which creates animation films focused on action, sci-fi, horror and humor.<\/p>\n<p>Dazhi uses <a href=\"https:\/\/www.nvidia.com\/en-us\/omniverse\/creators\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">NVIDIA Omniverse<\/a> \u2014 a physically accurate 3D design collaboration platform available with RTX-powered GPUs and part of the <a href=\"https:\/\/www.nvidia.com\/en-us\/studio\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">NVIDIA Studio<\/a> suite of tools for creators \u2014 with <a href=\"https:\/\/developer.nvidia.com\/blog\/iclone-connector-adds-breakthrough-character-animation-workflow-to-nvidia-omniverse\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Reallusion\u2019s iClone and Character Creator<\/a> to supercharge his artistic workflow.<\/p>\n<p>He uses <a href=\"https:\/\/www.nvidia.com\/en-us\/omniverse\/#apps-connectors\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Omniverse Connectors<\/a> for Reallusion apps for character and prop creation and animation, set dressing and cinematics.<\/p>\n<h2><b>Music, Movies and Masterful Rendering<\/b><\/h2>\n<p>From <a href=\"https:\/\/www.youtube.com\/watch?v=cGRdfwz2fOk\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\">animated music videos<\/a> to <a href=\"https:\/\/www.youtube.com\/watch?v=IWgGgBiaXg8\">clips for action films<\/a>, Dazhi has a multitude of projects \u2014 and accompanying deadlines.<\/p>\n<\/p>\n<p>\u201cThe main challenges I faced when trying to meet deadlines were long render times and difficulties with software compatibility, but using an Omniverse Connector for Reallusion\u2019s <a href=\"https:\/\/developer.nvidia.com\/blog\/iclone-connector-adds-breakthrough-character-animation-workflow-to-nvidia-omniverse\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">iClone<\/a> app has been game-changing for my workflow,\u201d he said.<\/p>\n<p>Using Omniverse, Dazhi accomplishes lighting and materials setup, rendering, simulation and post-production processes.<\/p>\n<p>With these tools, it took Dazhi just four minutes to render <a href=\"https:\/\/www.youtube.com\/watch?v=EErIyjoTHRw\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\">this clip of a flying car<\/a> \u2014 a task, he said, that would have otherwise taken hours.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cThe rendering speed and photorealistic output quality of Omniverse is a breakthrough \u2014 and Omniverse apps like <a href=\"https:\/\/www.nvidia.com\/en-us\/omniverse\/apps\/create\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Create<\/a> and <a href=\"https:\/\/www.nvidia.com\/en-us\/omniverse\/apps\/machinima\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Machinima<\/a> are very user-friendly,\u201d he said.<\/p>\n<p>Such 3D graphics tools are especially important for the development of indie artists, Dazhi added.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cIn Nigeria, there are very few animation studios, but we are beginning to grow in number thanks to easy-to-use tools like Reallusion\u2019s iClone, which is the main animation software I use,\u201d he said.<\/p>\n<p>Dazhi plans to soon expand his studio, working with other indie artists via Omniverse\u2019s real-time collaboration feature.
