We\u2019re going to bring the NVIDIA AI computing platform and our AI application frameworks onto VMware,\u201d Huang said.<\/p>\n<p><i>View today\u2019s VMworld 2020<\/i> <a href=\"https:\/\/my.vmworld.com\/widget\/vmware\/vmworld2020\/catalog\/session\/1598654132634001BSxt\"><i>CEO discussion<\/i><\/a><i> featuring Pat Gelsinger and Jensen Huang, and join us at<\/i><a href=\"https:\/\/www.nvidia.com\/en-us\/gtc\/sponsor\/vmware\/?search.language=1594320459782001LCjF&amp;search.language=1594320459782001LCjF&amp;search.region=1594318885491002C8FY&amp;search.region=1594318885491002C8FY&amp;search.sessiontype=1600813769132002bx5b&amp;search.sessiontype=1600813769132002bx5b&amp;search=vmware&amp;tab.catalogtabfields=1600209910618001TWM3\"> <i>GTC 2020<\/i><\/a><i> on October 5 to learn more.<\/i><\/p>\n<p>Through this collaboration, the rich set of AI software available on the<a href=\"https:\/\/www.nvidia.com\/en-us\/gpu-cloud\/\"> NVIDIA NGC<\/a> hub will be integrated into <a href=\"https:\/\/www.vmware.com\/products\/vsphere.html\">VMware vSphere<\/a>,<a href=\"https:\/\/www.vmware.com\/products\/cloud-foundation.html\"> VMware Cloud Foundation<\/a> and<a href=\"https:\/\/tanzu.vmware.com\/tanzu\"> VMware Tanzu<\/a>.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cFor every virtual infrastructure admin, we have millions of people that know how to run the vSphere stack,\u201d Gelsinger said. \u201cThey\u2019re running it every day, all day long, it\u2019s now the same tools, the same processes, the same networks, the same security, is now fully being made available on the GPU infrastructure.\u201d<\/p>\n<figure id=\"attachment_47135\" aria-describedby=\"caption-attachment-47135\" class=\"wp-caption aligncenter\"><a href=\"https:\/\/blogs.nvidia.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2020\/09\/VMwareCEOPatGelsinger_VMworld2020.png\"><img decoding=\"async\" loading=\"lazy\" src=\"https:\/\/blogs.nvidia.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2020\/09\/VMwareCEOPatGelsinger_VMworld2020-672x375.png\" alt=\"\" width=\"672\" height=\"375\"><\/a><figcaption id=\"caption-attachment-47135\" class=\"wp-caption-text\">VMware CEO Pat Gelsinger<\/figcaption><\/figure>\n<p>This will help accelerate AI adoption, enabling enterprises to extend existing infrastructure for AI, manage all applications with a single set of operations, and deploy AI-ready infrastructure where the data resides, across the data center, cloud and edge.<\/p>\n<p>Additionally, as part of VMware\u2019s <a href=\"http:\/\/www.vmware.com\/go\/vmworld-project-monterey-hybrid-cloud-news\">Project Monterey, also announced Tuesday<\/a>, the companies will partner to deliver an architecture for the hybrid cloud based on SmartNIC technology, including NVIDIA\u2019s programmable BlueField-2 DPU.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cThe characteristics, the pillars of Project Monterey of offloading the operating system, the data center operating system, onto the SmartNIC, isolating the applications from the control plane and the data plane, and accelerating the data processing and the security processing to line speed is going to make the data center so much more powerful, so much more performant,\u201d Huang said.<\/p>\n<p>Among the organizations integrating their VMware and NVIDIA ecosystems is the<a href=\"https:\/\/intelligentimaging.ucsf.edu\/\"> UCSF Center for Intelligent Imaging<\/a>.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cI can\u2019t imagine a more impactful use of AI than healthcare,\u201d Huang said. \u201cThe intersection of people, disease and treatments is one of the greatest challenges of humanity, and one where AI will be needed to move the needle.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>A leader in the development of AI and analysis tools in medical imaging, the center uses the<a href=\"https:\/\/developer.nvidia.com\/clara\"> NVIDIA Clara<\/a> healthcare application framework for AI-powered imaging and VMware Cloud Foundation to support a broad range of mission-critical workloads.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cThis way of doing computing is going to be the way that the future data centers are built.
