{"id":3117,"date":"2023-08-16T18:06:05","date_gmt":"2023-08-16T18:06:05","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/salarydistribution.com\/machine-learning\/2023\/08\/16\/into-the-omniverse-reallusion-elevates-character-animation-workflows-with-two-way-live-sync-and-openusd-support\/"},"modified":"2023-08-16T18:06:05","modified_gmt":"2023-08-16T18:06:05","slug":"into-the-omniverse-reallusion-elevates-character-animation-workflows-with-two-way-live-sync-and-openusd-support","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/salarydistribution.com\/machine-learning\/2023\/08\/16\/into-the-omniverse-reallusion-elevates-character-animation-workflows-with-two-way-live-sync-and-openusd-support\/","title":{"rendered":"Into the Omniverse: Reallusion Elevates Character Animation Workflows With Two-Way Live Sync and OpenUSD Support"},"content":{"rendered":"<div data-url=\"https:\/\/blogs.nvidia.com\/blog\/2023\/08\/16\/openusd-support-for-elevated-animation-workflows\/\" data-title=\"Into the Omniverse: Reallusion Elevates Character Animation Workflows With Two-Way Live Sync and OpenUSD Support\" data-hashtags=\"\">\n<p><i>Editor\u2019s note: This post is part of <\/i><a href=\"https:\/\/www.nvidia.com\/en-us\/omniverse\/news\/\"><i>Into the Omniverse<\/i><\/a><i>, a series focused on how artists, developers and enterprises can transform their workflows using the latest advances in <\/i><a href=\"https:\/\/www.nvidia.com\/en-us\/omniverse\/usd\/\"><i>OpenUSD<\/i><\/a><i> and <\/i><a href=\"https:\/\/www.nvidia.com\/en-us\/omniverse\/usd\/\"><i>NVIDIA Omniverse<\/i><\/a><i>.<\/i><\/p>\n<p>Whether animating a single 3D character or generating a group of them for industrial digitalization, creators and developers who use the popular Reallusion software can boost their workflows with the latest update to the <a href=\"https:\/\/www.reallusion.com\/iclone\/nvidia-omniverse\/default.html#live-sync\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\">iClone Omniverse Connector<\/a> released this month.<\/p>\n<p>The upgrade enables seamless collaboration and expands creative possibilities for creators using <a href=\"https:\/\/www.nvidia.com\/en-us\/omniverse\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">NVIDIA Omniverse<\/a>, a development platform for connecting and building OpenUSD-based tools and applications.<\/p>\n<p>New features include real-time synchronization of projects, as well as enhanced import functionality for the <a href=\"https:\/\/www.nvidia.com\/en-us\/omniverse\/usd\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Universal Scene Description<\/a> framework, known as OpenUSD, which makes work between iClone and Omniverse quicker, smoother and more efficient. The update also comes with bug fixes and improvements.<\/p>\n<h2><b>Animating 3D Characters Better, Together<\/b><\/h2>\n<p>Creators across the world are using Reallusion iClone, a real-time 3D animation software, to bring their characters to life.<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/www.youtube.com\/channel\/UCjWoiheJcpvpSY4ZVIRSifw\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Solomon Jagwe<\/a> \u2014 a 3D artist, animator and award-winning film director \u2014 uses Reallusion iClone and Omniverse for his work, which often focuses on environmental themes.<\/p>\n<p>Jagwe, who grew up in East Africa, recalls fond childhood memories drawing the creatures he\u2019d see when he ventured into the countryside with his brother. Even now, much of his 3D work begins with a simple sketch using pen and paper.<\/p>\n<p>The artist said he always strives to create art that makes a difference.<\/p>\n<p>For example, Jagwe created <a href=\"https:\/\/www.nkozaandnankya.com\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\"><i>Adventures of Nkoza and Nankya<\/i><\/a>, a video series for educating people of all ages on Ugandan culture. He modeled the sets for the series in Autodesk 3ds Max and Autodesk Maya, animated in Reallusion iClone and composed in Omniverse.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cWith the iClone Connector for Omniverse, I can easily render my iClone animations in Omniverse and take advantage of the iClone animation tools in combination with the <a href=\"https:\/\/www.nvidia.com\/en-us\/omniverse\/apps\/audio2face\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Omniverse Audio2Face<\/a> generative AI capabilities,\u201d Jagwe said.<\/p>\n<p>Jagwe\u2019s entire creative pipeline is accelerated by USD, which acts as a common language between 3D applications and enables sharing full scenes across content-creation tools.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cOpenUSD makes it so much easier to transport all the textures and characters together in one place for animation,\u201d Jagwe said. He\u2019s landed roles as head animator for the film <a href=\"https:\/\/www.youtube.com\/watch?v=aKN7VmHuSWM\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\"><i>The Legend of Oronpoto<\/i><\/a> as well as creator and director of the <a href=\"https:\/\/www.cartoonnetworkhq.com\/show\/cndancechallenge\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\">Cartoon Network Africa Dance Challenge<\/a>.<\/p>\n<p>Dazhi uses Omniverse with Reallusion\u2019s iClone and Character Creator to supercharge his artistic workflow.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cThe main challenges I faced when trying to meet deadlines were long render times and difficulties with software compatibility, but using an Omniverse Connector for Reallusion\u2019s <a href=\"https:\/\/developer.nvidia.com\/blog\/iclone-connector-adds-breakthrough-character-animation-workflow-to-nvidia-omniverse\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">iClone<\/a> app has been game-changing for my workflow,\u201d he said.<\/p>\n<p><img decoding=\"async\" loading=\"lazy\" src=\"https:\/\/blogs.nvidia.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2023\/08\/y61.png\" alt=\"\" width=\"589\" height=\"331\"><\/p>\n<p><i>A scene from one of Dhazi\u2019s animated music videos.<\/i><\/p>\n<p>Several other Omniverse community members recently joined a livestream to share their workflows using Reallusion and Omniverse. Watch the stream on demand:<\/p>\n<\/p>\n<h2><b>Sync in Style With New Connector Updates<\/b><\/h2>\n<p>The updated Reallusion iClone Connector for Omniverse offers powerful integrations between the two platforms.<\/p>\n<p>Users can now seamlessly synchronize their projects in real time thanks to new bidirectional <a href=\"https:\/\/docs.omniverse.nvidia.com\/extensions\/latest\/ext_live.html\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">live-sync<\/a> capabilities. This means changes made in either iClone or Omniverse can be automatically reflected back to the other. Such bidirectional synchronization can be applied to animation-related changes for characters, such as skeletal and morph animation.<\/p>\n<p>The iClone Connector also enables enhanced USD import capabilities. Users can now import static meshes, cameras and lights from Omniverse directly into iClone.
