Taking a deep breath, she noticed that there was no city noise, no pollution \u2014 and no work emails.<\/p>\n<p>Ashtankar, a senior tools development engineer in NVIDIA\u2019s Pune, India, office, took advantage of the company\u2019s free days \u2014 two extra days off per quarter when the whole company disconnects from work \u2014 to recharge. Free days are fully paid by NVIDIA, not counted as vacation or as personal time off, and are in addition to country-specific holidays and time-away programs.<\/p>\n<p><img decoding=\"async\" loading=\"lazy\" class=\"aligncenter size-large wp-image-72789\" src=\"https:\/\/blogs.nvidia.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2024\/06\/Snow_Peak_Sonmarg-672x378.jpg\" alt=\"\" width=\"672\" height=\"378\"><\/p>\n<p>Free days give employees time to take an adventure, a breather \u2014 or both. Ashtankar and her husband, Dipen Sisodia \u2014 also an NVIDIAN \u2014 spent it outdoors, hiking up a mountain, playing in snow and exploring forests and lush green meadows.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cMy free days give me time to focus on myself and recharge,\u201d said Ashtankar. \u201cWe didn\u2019t take our laptops. We were able to completely disconnect, like all NVIDIANs were doing at the same time.\u201d<\/p>\n<p><img decoding=\"async\" loading=\"lazy\" class=\"aligncenter size-large wp-image-72792\" src=\"https:\/\/blogs.nvidia.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2024\/06\/Mountain_top_bike-672x378.jpg\" alt=\"\" width=\"672\" height=\"378\"><\/p>\n<p>Ashtankar returned to work feeling refreshed and recharged, she said.
