In Vietnam, he announced NVIDIA\u2019s collaboration with the country\u2019s government on an <a target=\"_blank\" href=\"https:\/\/nvidianews.nvidia.com\/news\/nvidia-to-open-vietnam-r-d-center-to-bolster-ai-development\" rel=\"noopener\">AI research and development center<\/a> \u2014 and NVIDIA\u2019s acquisition of <a href=\"https:\/\/blogs.nvidia.com\/blog\/vietnam-vinbrain-deploys-healthcare-ai\/\">VinBrain<\/a>, a health technology startup funded by Vingroup, one of Vietnam\u2019s largest public companies.<\/p>\n<p>These events capped a year of global investments in <a href=\"https:\/\/blogs.nvidia.com\/blog\/what-is-sovereign-ai\/\">sovereign AI<\/a>, the ability for countries to develop and harness AI using domestic computing infrastructure, data and workforces. AI will contribute <a target=\"_blank\" href=\"https:\/\/www.idc.com\/getdoc.jsp?containerId=prUS52600524\" rel=\"noopener\">nearly $20 trillion<\/a> to the global economy through the end of the decade, according to IDC.<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/blogs.nvidia.com\/blog\/canada\/\">Canada<\/a>, <a href=\"https:\/\/blogs.nvidia.com\/blog\/denmark-sovereign-ai-supercomputer\/\">Denmark<\/a> and <a href=\"https:\/\/blogs.nvidia.com\/blog\/indonesia-tech-leaders-sovereign-ai\/\">Indonesia<\/a> are among the countries that have announced initiatives to develop sovereign AI infrastructure powered by NVIDIA technology. And at the recent NVIDIA AI Summits in <a href=\"https:\/\/blogs.nvidia.com\/blog\/india-ai-summit-jensen-huang\/\">India<\/a> and <a href=\"https:\/\/blogs.nvidia.com\/blog\/japan-tech-leaders-sovereign-ai-omniverse\/\">Japan<\/a>, leading enterprises, infrastructure providers and startups in both countries announced sovereign AI projects in sectors including finance, healthcare and manufacturing.<\/p>\n<h2><b>Supporting Sovereign Cloud Infrastructure in Thailand<\/b><\/h2>\n<p>Huang\u2019s Southeast Asia visit kicked off with a meeting with Thailand Prime Minister Paetongtarn Shinawatra, where he discussed the opportunities for sovereign AI development in Thailand and shared memories of his childhood years spent in Bangkok.<\/p>\n<p>The pair discussed how further investing in AI education and training can help Thailand drive AI innovations in fields such as weather prediction, climate simulation and healthcare. NVIDIA is working with dozens of local universities and startups to support AI advancement in the country.<\/p>\n<figure id=\"attachment_76171\" aria-describedby=\"caption-attachment-76171\" class=\"wp-caption aligncenter\"><img decoding=\"async\" loading=\"lazy\" class=\"size-large wp-image-76171\" src=\"https:\/\/blogs.nvidia.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2024\/12\/IMG_20241203141709000000-1680x1120.jpg\" alt=\"\" width=\"1680\" height=\"1120\"><figcaption id=\"caption-attachment-76171\" class=\"wp-caption-text\">Huang and Shinawatra met in the Purple Room of the Thai-Khu-Fah building, which houses the offices of the prime minister and cabinet.<\/figcaption><\/figure>\n<p>Huang later took the stage at an \u201cAI Vision for Thailand\u201d event hosted by SIAM.AI Cloud, a cloud platform company that offers customers access to virtual servers featuring <a target=\"_blank\" href=\"https:\/\/www.nvidia.com\/en-us\/data-center\/tensor-cores\/\" rel=\"noopener\">NVIDIA Tensor Core GPUs<\/a>.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cThe most important part of artificial intelligence is the data. And the data of Thailand belongs to the Thai people,\u201d Huang said in a fireside chat with Ratanaphon Wongnapachant, CEO of SIAM.AI Cloud. Highlighting the importance of sovereign AI development, Huang said, \u201cThe digital data of Thailand encodes the knowledge, the history, the culture, the common sense of your people. It should be harvested by your people.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>Following the conversation, Wongnapachant gifted Huang a custom leather jacket lined with Thai silk. The pair also signed an <a target=\"_blank\" href=\"https:\/\/www.nvidia.com\/en-us\/data-center\/dgx-h200\/\" rel=\"noopener\">NVIDIA DGX H200<\/a> system in recognition of SIAM.AI Cloud\u2019s plans to expand its offerings to NVIDIA H200 Tensor Core GPUs and NVIDIA GB200 Grace Blackwell Superchips.<\/p>\n<p><img decoding=\"async\" loading=\"lazy\" class=\"aligncenter size-large wp-image-76174\" src=\"https:\/\/blogs.nvidia.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2024\/12\/TNS_0980-1680x1120.jpg\" alt=\"\" width=\"1680\" height=\"1120\"><\/p>\n<h2><b>Advancing AI From Research to Industry in Vietnam<\/b><\/h2>\n<p>In Hanoi the next day, Huang met with Vietnam\u2019s Prime Minister Pham Minh Chinh, and NVIDIA signed an agreement to build the company\u2019s <a target=\"_blank\" href=\"https:\/\/nvidianews.nvidia.com\/news\/nvidia-to-open-vietnam-r-d-center-to-bolster-ai-development\" rel=\"noopener\">first research and development center in the country<\/a>. The center will focus on software development and collaborate with Vietnam\u2019s enterprises, startups, government agencies and universities to accelerate AI adoption in the country.<\/p>\n<p><img decoding=\"async\" loading=\"lazy\" class=\"aligncenter wp-image-76177 size-medium\" src=\"https:\/\/blogs.nvidia.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2024\/12\/IMG_8863-960x678.jpg\" alt=\"\" width=\"960\" height=\"678\"><\/p>\n<p>The announcement builds on NVIDIA\u2019s existing work with 65 universities in Vietnam and more than 100 of the country\u2019s AI startups through <a target=\"_blank\" href=\"https:\/\/www.nvidia.com\/en-us\/startups\/\" rel=\"noopener\">NVIDIA Inception<\/a>, a global program designed to help startups evolve faster.
