{"id":3849,"date":"2024-12-31T02:45:37","date_gmt":"2024-12-31T02:45:37","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/salarydistribution.com\/machine-learning\/2024\/12\/31\/dancing-on-their-own-nvidia-powered-robots-to-adore-from-2024\/"},"modified":"2024-12-31T02:45:37","modified_gmt":"2024-12-31T02:45:37","slug":"dancing-on-their-own-nvidia-powered-robots-to-adore-from-2024","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/salarydistribution.com\/machine-learning\/2024\/12\/31\/dancing-on-their-own-nvidia-powered-robots-to-adore-from-2024\/","title":{"rendered":"Dancing on Their Own: NVIDIA-Powered Robots to Adore From 2024"},"content":{"rendered":"<div>\n\t\t<span class=\"bsf-rt-reading-time\"><span class=\"bsf-rt-display-label\"><\/span> <span class=\"bsf-rt-display-time\"><\/span> <span class=\"bsf-rt-display-postfix\"><\/span><\/span><\/p>\n<p>Artificial intelligence made big moves this year \u2014 as did the robots the technology is working behind.<\/p>\n<p>From Silicon Valley to <a href=\"https:\/\/blogs.nvidia.com\/blog\/india-robotics-nvidia\/\">India<\/a>, Boston to <a href=\"https:\/\/blogs.nvidia.com\/blog\/japan-innovators-physical-ai-omniverse\/\">Japan<\/a>, here are some of the autonomous machines and robotics technologies, powered by NVIDIA AI, that offered helping hands in 2024.<\/p>\n<h2><b>Clearbot Tidies Up Ocean Litter<\/b><\/h2>\n<p>Hong Kong- and India-based Clearbot, a member of the <a target=\"_blank\" href=\"https:\/\/www.nvidia.com\/en-us\/startups\/\" rel=\"noopener\">NVIDIA Inception<\/a> program for cutting-edge startups, is making a splash with its autonomous trash-collection boats enabled by the NVIDIA Jetson platform for edge AI and robotics.<\/p>\n<p><img decoding=\"async\" loading=\"lazy\" class=\"aligncenter size-medium wp-image-76733\" src=\"https:\/\/blogs.nvidia.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2024\/12\/clearbot-960x510.png\" alt=\"\" width=\"960\" height=\"510\"><\/p>\n<p>With plastic making up at least 85% of marine waste across the globe, <a href=\"https:\/\/blogs.nvidia.com\/blog\/clearbot-autonomously-cleans-ai\/\">Clearbot aims to remove waste from waterways<\/a> before it gets into the seas.<\/p>\n<p>The startup\u2019s autonomous ocean vessels are equipped with two cameras \u2014 one for navigation and another for waste identification of what boats have scooped up.<\/p>\n<\/p>\n<p>Clearbot trained its garbage- and obstacle-identifying AI models using NVIDIA accelerated computing. The energy-efficient <a target=\"_blank\" href=\"https:\/\/www.nvidia.com\/en-us\/autonomous-machines\/embedded-systems\/jetson-xavier-series\/\" rel=\"noopener\">NVIDIA Jetson Xavier NX<\/a> system-on-module allows the battery-powered water-cleaning boats to collect for eight hours at a time.<\/p>\n<h2><b>Figure Unveils Latest Humanoid Robot<\/b><\/h2>\n<p>Silicon Valley-based Figure <a href=\"https:\/\/blogs.nvidia.com\/blog\/figure-humanoid-robot-autonomous\/\">introduced its Figure 02 conversational humanoid robot<\/a> that taps into the <a target=\"_blank\" href=\"https:\/\/www.nvidia.com\/en-us\/omniverse\/\" rel=\"noopener\">NVIDIA Omniverse<\/a> platform and accelerated computing for fully autonomous tasks.<\/p>\n<\/p>\n<p>New human-scale hands, six RGB cameras and perception AI models trained with <a href=\"https:\/\/blogs.nvidia.com\/blog\/what-is-synthetic-data\/\">synthetic data<\/a> generated in the <a target=\"_blank\" href=\"https:\/\/developer.nvidia.com\/isaac\/sim\" rel=\"noopener\">NVIDIA Isaac Sim<\/a> robotics developer simulation platform enable Figure 02 to perform high-precision pick-and-place tasks required for smart manufacturing applications.<\/p>\n<p>The company recently tested Figure 02 for data collection and use-case training at BMW Group\u2019s Spartanburg, South Carolina, production line.<\/p>\n<p><img decoding=\"async\" loading=\"lazy\" class=\"aligncenter size-medium wp-image-76730\" src=\"https:\/\/blogs.nvidia.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2024\/12\/figure02-960x540.png\" alt=\"\" width=\"960\" height=\"540\"><\/p>\n<p>Figure is a part of NVIDIA Inception and among the initial members to join the <a target=\"_blank\" href=\"https:\/\/developer.nvidia.com\/humanoid-robot-program\/\" rel=\"noopener\">NVIDIA Humanoid Robot Developer Program<\/a>, which provides early access to advanced <a target=\"_blank\" href=\"https:\/\/nvidianews.nvidia.com\/news\/nvidia-accelerates-worldwide-humanoid-robotics-development\" rel=\"noopener\">tools and computing technologies<\/a> for humanoid robot development. This includes the latest releases of NVIDIA Isaac Sim, <a target=\"_blank\" href=\"https:\/\/isaac-sim.github.io\/IsaacLab\/\" rel=\"noopener\">Isaac Lab<\/a>, <a target=\"_blank\" href=\"https:\/\/nvidianews.nvidia.com\/news\/nvidia-accelerates-worldwide-humanoid-robotics-development\" rel=\"noopener\">NIM microservices<\/a>, <a target=\"_blank\" href=\"https:\/\/developer.nvidia.com\/osmo\" rel=\"noopener\">OSMO<\/a>, <a target=\"_blank\" href=\"https:\/\/nvidianews.nvidia.com\/news\/foundation-model-isaac-robotics-platform\" rel=\"noopener\">Jetson Thor<\/a> and <a target=\"_blank\" href=\"https:\/\/developer.nvidia.com\/project-gr00t\" rel=\"noopener\">Project GR00T<\/a> general-purpose humanoid foundation models.<\/p>\n<h2><b>ORBIT-Surgical Researchers Prep Robots for Surgery<\/b><\/h2>\n<p>The ORBIT-Surgical simulation framework \u2014 developed by researchers from the University of Toronto, UC Berkeley, ETH Z\u00fcrich, Georgia Tech and NVIDIA \u2014 helps train <a href=\"https:\/\/blogs.nvidia.com\/blog\/orbit-surgical-robotics-research-icra\/\">robots that could augment the skills of surgical teams<\/a> while reducing surgeons\u2019 cognitive loads.<\/p>\n<p>It supports more than a dozen maneuvers inspired by the training curriculum for minimally invasive surgeries.<\/p>\n<\/p>\n<p>Presented at this year\u2019s ICRA robotics conference in Japan, the needle-moving robotics research \u2014 based on Isaac Sim and Omniverse \u2014 also introduced benchmarks for one-handed tasks such as picking up a piece of gauze, inserting a shunt into a blood vessel and lifting a suture needle to a specific position.<\/p>\n<p>The benchmarks also include two-handed tasks, like passing a threaded needle through a ring pole.<\/p>\n<p><img decoding=\"async\" loading=\"lazy\" class=\"aligncenter size-medium wp-image-76724\" src=\"https:\/\/blogs.nvidia.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2024\/12\/orbitsurgical-960x510.png\" alt=\"\" width=\"960\" height=\"510\"><\/p>\n<h2><b>Zordi Robots Grow Strawberries Indoors<\/b><\/h2>\n<p>Boston-based autonomous agriculture startup Zordi \u2014 with farms in southern New Jersey and western New York \u2014 is tapping into <a href=\"https:\/\/blogs.nvidia.com\/blog\/zordi-ai-robotics-isaac-omniverse\/\">robotics to grow strawberries indoors<\/a>.<\/p>\n<p><img decoding=\"async\" loading=\"lazy\" class=\"aligncenter size-medium wp-image-76727\" src=\"https:\/\/blogs.nvidia.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2024\/12\/zordi-960x480.png\" alt=\"\" width=\"960\" height=\"480\"><\/p>\n<p>Autonomous greenhouse systems can support regional markets across the globe, cutting down on the carbon footprint for transportation and providing fresher, better-tasting fruits grown more sustainably.<\/p>\n<p>Zordi uses two types of robots within its operations. One is a scouting robot for gathering information on plant health using <a href=\"https:\/\/blogs.nvidia.com\/blog\/what-are-foundation-models\/\">foundational models<\/a>, the other a harvesting robot for delicately picking and placing fruits and handling other tasks.<\/p>\n<\/p>\n<p>The startup is exploring <a target=\"_blank\" href=\"https:\/\/www.nvidia.com\/en-us\/autonomous-machines\/embedded-systems\/jetson-orin\/\" rel=\"noopener\">NVIDIA Jetson AGX Orin modules<\/a> for gathering sensor data and running its AI models.<\/p>\n<p>Cutting-edge companies weren\u2019t the only ones to drive major robotics advancements this year.
